With the COVID-19 pandemic requiring social distancing, online learning has become the best way to give students from kindergarten to high school their daily education. Since this is a new style of education for everyone involved, here are a few tips to help your child make the most of online learning.

5 Tips for Continuing Education With Distance Learning

1. Maintain a Routine

Children thrive on routine. When that schedule is disrupted, some students have a hard time adjusting behaviorally and emotionally.

Online learning offers a way for children to stick to their learning routine even if the setting has changed. They will log into their accounts and have contact with their teacher throughout the day to ask questions and hand in work just as they would if they were face-to-face.

2. Set Up a Learning Area

3. Stick to the Schedule

To make online learning successful, parents, teachers, and students must work together to keep up with the workload. Check emails and other messaging platforms regularly for updates, and keep track of due dates or special online events. Ensure homework is still completed and handed in, and log in to parent portals to keep track of grades and reports.

4. Connect Socially

Whether students are in elementary school or high school, there is a social aspect of education. Even while they work, children are surrounded by peers, educators, and mentors who are a support system for their well-being.

Teachers will establish social activities during online learning that are just as vital as handing in homework. Make sure students are participating in video conferencing and virtual hangouts, so they stay connected with friends and instructors.

5. Stay Active

Physical education is not only part of the curriculum but also crucial to your child’s health. Teachers may offer activities such as scavenger hunts to get kids moving, both inside and outside the house. Some may require logging in walk and run times for physical education requirements, all to help kids fit activity into their day.
