The decision to pursue fertility treatment is an important step forward for any couple. At Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute in Honolulu, they help future parents through the exciting process with a combination of compassion and expertise. Since opening for business in 1985, Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute has helped hundreds of partners get pregnant and grow their family. Many of their patients often come in for their first consultation with limited knowledge of the fertility treatment process.

Here are the basic differences between IUI and IVF treatment, courtesy of the Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute:

  • IUI: IUI or intrauterine insemination is a procedure in which processed and concentrated sperm is inserted directly into a woman’s uterus. An IUI procedure is timed according to a woman’s ovulation schedule and it can be performed by an infertility doctor one or two times in the days immediately following the start of ovulation. This procedure is effective because it allows a higher concentration of good-quality sperm to get closer to the egg.
  • IVF: In vitro fertilization or IVF is the process of stimulating the ovaries to produce multiple eggs at one time. The eggs are then removed from the ovary, fertilized in a laboratory, and the resulting embryos are then transferred back into the uterus. IVF is a very successful treatment for infertility, but results do vary depending on a woman’s age and the causes of infertility. Speak to an infertility doctor at Pacific In Vitro Fertilization Institute to see which option is best for you, or attend one of their FREE informational seminars on IVF.  Visit www.pacificinvitro.com for more information, or to sign up for the free seminar.
