In this time of uncertainty, Curtis Law Construction wants you to know that we’re here for you. We’re all in this together.  As a General Contractor on Kauai for over 50 years now, we’ve seen a lot of ups and down in the marketplace. Don’t worry, this too shall pass.

The first that come to mind are Hurricane Iwa in 1982 and Iniki 1992 to start, but also the crash of 2008 and many other hard times.

After hurricane Iniki in particular, the community came together with a vengeance.  Restaurants had huge food give away parties, neighbors helping neighbors pick up debris and inviting anyone nearby over to your house to sleep over when they lost their roof or worse.  You rose at sunrise, and went to bed at sundown and everyone worked hard all day long.  We didn’t have water or power for weeks and hot showers were the result of empty bleach bottles filled with tap water and put in the sun all day. Hard work paid off, the island rebounded and we bonded with our neighbors like no other time in our living history.

We have always done our part to try and keep our men employed, even if that meant working on the boss’ house from time to time just to keep busy, put food on the table and rent paid.  Things are a little different this time with stay at home orders.  But we will adjust and make due.

Just imagine the people who have moved here from the mainland who have never experienced the power of a small community in time of crisis.  There is no better time to teach them, show them first-hand the ways of the Aloha Spirit and what it means to be part of this community. This is a chance to hit reset once again, and bring our community together.

Once again, our island (and the world) is faced with an unexpected hardship. At the end of the day, we need food, water, shelter and each other.  Take care of one another and we’ll be better for it on the backend.
