Staying physically active boosts your immune system and maintains overall wellness, but you may struggle to do this while working from home and social distancing. Luckily, there are many personal training techniques you can do without going to a gym. Doing these at-home exercises gives you a workout without any extra equipment.

Personal Training Routine for the Home

1. Burpees

These are excellent for your athletic development because they provide a combination of cardio and strength training. Start by standing upright with your feet shoulder-width apart, then squat down until your hands reach the ground. Pop your legs backward, do a pushup, then bring your feet as close to your hands as possible. From there, jump into the air and push your arms over your head. Make sure to have a clear space to do this, as you don’t want to knock anything over.

2. Planks

Planks target your core as well as your arms. Place your elbows on the floor then extend your legs behind you. Raise your body off of the ground while keeping your core tight, and hold the position for a set amount of time, usually 30 seconds to a minute at a time. You can modify the workout by doing side planks where you hold yourself up on one elbow with your side facing the ground.

3. Pushups

Personal TrainingThis is one of the most effective personal training exercises because it works out a variety of muscles. Start in the plank position, except on your hands rather than your elbows. Next, bend your elbows and lower your torso to the floor before rising back to the starting position. To make the exercise easier, personal trainers recommend placing your knees on the floor rather than doing them from the plank position.

4. Lunges

Lunges are fantastic personal training exercises for your lower body. Begin the workout by standing straight with your legs shoulder-width apart. Move one leg forward while bending the other until your knee almost touches the ground. Then, use the forward leg to stand back up straight and repeat with your other leg. You can either do this in place or travel the length of the room before turning around.

5. Yoga

Stretching is an essential part of working out, and yoga accomplishes this excellently. It combines breathing exercises with stretching and strength training, and you don’t need any equipment to do it. There are a variety of free fitness classes online that you can watch to learn different progressions and ensure you are maintaining the proper form.
