The College Board just released the full AP exam schedule for the upcoming exams in May.

The new 45-minute-long AP exam format will only cover content from the beginning of the academic year through mid-March and be available across two sets of testing dates: the primary testing dates from May 11-22 and the secondary set of make-up dates from June 1-5, 2020.

Read on to learn more about the AP exams for 2020.

AP Exam Updates for 2020

1. Scores will count toward college credit

The College Board has worked with colleges and universities to ensure that students that meet certain score benchmarks get college credit as they normally would helping parents and students save money on college tuition.

2. The AP exams will cover revised content

Unlike the regular AP exams which cover the entire AP curriculum, these revised exams will cover content through mid-March of 2020. The College Board has shared what content will be covered for each exam on their website.

3. AP exams will be open-book / open-note exams

For this year, all of the AP exams will be open-book and open-note exams. According to the College Board, this means that “students may access class notes and class resources to reference concepts covered during their course.” Prior to the exams, students should organize their materials so time is not wasted searching for notes or information during the test.

Students cannot use any material which is not their own and cannot communicate with others during the test.

4. Test accommodations details to be announced

If you have a testing accommodation such as extended time, the College Board will announce those details in due course as they finalize details.
