COVID-19 has been labeled a pandemic, changing life in the United States for the time being. However, there’s still a great deal of misinformation out there. Below, learn more about the symptoms of this condition and when to contact your health care provider.

Symptoms

Fever

Our temperatures fluctuate throughout the day. For this reason, if you take your temperature and it's above average but still under 100 degrees, hold off on worrying and retake it later. If it goes up in the afternoon, you may want to contact your health care provider. Viruses typically spike fevers in the late afternoon to evening, so this is often a more accurate reading.

Trouble Breathing

If you have COVID-19, your lungs will feel tight and you may not be able to take deep breaths. If your lips turn slightly blue, you have chronic pressure in your chest, or you feel sudden confusion or fatigue, these are all signs that your body isn't getting enough oxygen. Call 911 for immediate medical intervention if this is the case.

Cough

What to Do if You Think You Might Be Sick

Under 60 Years Old

People under 60 are statistically fighting off the virus more easily. If you're feeling mild symptoms, your best option is to remain home, rest liberally, and drink lots of water. Don't go out in public or visit family. If your symptoms persist for more than a week, call your doctor, call the number on the back of your insurance card, or visit your health care provider online for specific instructions.

Over 60 Years Old or Pregnant

Those who are over 60 years old or pregnant may have higher risks of contracting COVID-19. If you feel the above symptoms, call your health care provider immediately. Additionally, if you're not feeling well but you don't have the virus, your immune system may be less likely to fight off the virus if you pick it up.
