Automatic doors are common features for commercial buildings, maintaining ease of access. However, with a steady flow of customers, keeping them clean can be a challenge. Simplify the process by implementing the following techniques.

4 Tips for Cleaning Automatic Doors

1. Wipe Down the Tracks

Manually stop the doors in an open position and vacuum out loose debris from within the tracks. Using a clean cloth and a bucket of warm, soapy water, wipe down the grooves to remove any additional buildup. If there are visible spots of rust, gently scrub at the area with a bit of steel wool. Wipe the tracks clean before drying them with a towel.

2. Clean the Glass

Wipe down the glass with clean paper towels or a dry cloth, working from top to bottom to prevent streaks. Soak additional paper towels with a window cleaning solution and polish the glass until it shines.

3. Apply Lubricant

Set the door back to automatic and put it through a few test runs. If it seems to catch, then it might be time to apply lubricant.

Manually stop the doors in an open position and spray lubricant along the upper and lower tracks. Reset the doors, so the rollers can work the lubricant into the mechanisms.

4. Clean the Door Frame

Soak a clean cloth in a bucket of warm water and soap. Squeeze out the excess and wipe down along the edges of the door frame. Use a piece of steel wool to remove spots of rust before running the cloth one last time over the surface. Repeat on the other side of the door, then dry both with a towel.
