If your windshield has been damaged, you'll need to have an expert replace your auto glass, so your car is fit to drive. Before going to the technicians, learn more about what to expect from the process below to ensure everything's done effectively.

The Windshield Replacement Process

1. Extract the Current Windshield

The first step for the auto glass technician is to take out the trim that keeps the windshield in place. They'll likely use a razor to sever the material, freeing up the glass in the process. Afterward, they'll remove the windshield with suction cups that prevent the glass from shattering.

2. Clean the Pinch Weld

3. Install the New Windshield

Next, the technician will coat urethane, which is a powerful adhesive, throughout the pinch weld. Before it dries, they'll insert the new sheet of auto glass with the same suction cup mechanism as before, holding it firmly in place to accelerate the binding process after it's positioned correctly. A few hours later, the urethane will cure fully and you can drive away with your new windshield.
