A dental crown is a vital treatment when the structure of your tooth is badly damaged by injury or decay, exposing the soft tissue inside. Usually, when a dentist recommends this treatment, they’ll have an outside lab create the crown. This means you need to make two visits to the office: one to prepare the tooth and take a mold, and the second to cement the new crown in place. However, with CEREC® same-day dental crowns, you can get everything done at once.

How It Works

Instead of taking a mold of your tooth to base your crown on, CEREC uses digital scans of your mouth to get an accurate picture of the tooth. Your dentist will create a 3D computer model of the new crown, perfectly fitted to your tooth. They'll send the computer model to a machine, which mills the crown from a piece of ceramic while you wait in the office. Once the crown is ready, they'll cement it onto the tooth on the same day. Crowns created this way are permanent, attractive, realistic, strong, and comfortable.

Benefits

Dental CrownsSame-day crowns mean only one trip to your dentist, so you don't have to clear your schedule twice. This also means you won't have to wear a temporary crown between visits, which is ideal because it can fit poorly and come loose before the second appointment. Despite being quick to produce, CEREC crowns are made with a high degree of precision, so you likely won’t need any adjustments. If you need a replacement, your dentist may use the design of your original crown as a starting point, making the process even easier.
