My patients range from brand-new babies to centenarians.  Each one comes with his or her own sense of humor, set of skills, attitude, and stories:

The veteran who sacrificed his hearing, and a bit more, to serve the country.  The woman with the amazing story about being struck by lightening.  The crafty patients like the man who creates his own canes and pens, and the knitter who makes covers for the hand grips on her walker.  The little girl who started crying the second she saw me in my white coat but willingly settled down for testing as long as she could hug my leg.

I get to meet new people every day and be introduced to their memories and insights.  Not every patient is a delight but the majority are worth knowing and a pleasure to meet.  I'm lucky to work in this field and have these experiences.
