The right entry door will protect your home and family and enhance the visual appeal of your entire property. Because a front door will be exposed to the elements and will likely withstand a lot of regular use, some occasional upkeep is necessary to get the most out of your investment. Below, learn a few easy maintenance tips for entry doors.

How to Maintain an Entry Door

1. Dust Off the Door Once a Week

A front door is a natural gathering place for dirt, dust, and cobwebs. Every week, wipe down the entirety of the door with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Get up into the corners, along the sides, and into any ridges, etching, or carvings in the door surface. This will keep your door looking its best, discourage insects, and remove any cobwebs before they have a chance to expand and create a nuisance.

2. Wash Down the Door

Use a soft, nonabrasive sponge or brush to gently work the mixture over the surface and scrub the fixtures and sides of the door as well. Then, rinse the door with a clean sponge and clear, warm water.

3. Apply Polish

If you have a wooden entry door, wood-furniture polish can really bring out the shine; use it as you would on furniture. Also, polish the windows with a traditional glass cleaner after every washing. Spray the cleaner onto the glass and wipe away with a paper towel. For larger windows, a squeegee comes in handy.

By following these tips, you will ensure your entry doors stay bright, inviting, and functional for years to come. JFK Window & Door offers a full selection of doors to the Cincinnati, OH, area.
