DELGADO ORTHODONTICS
COVID – 19 Update 3/15/2020
OFFICE ENVIRONMENT PRECAUTIONS, APPOINTMENTS, HYGIENE & RETAINER/ALIGNER CARE

OFFICE:  Delgado Orthodontics will be open to treat patients and following our regular schedule, beginning Monday, 3/16/2020. In response to COVID – 19 concerns, we want to assure you, our patients and families, that we will be taking every necessary precaution and closely following CDC and OSHA guidelines to continue providing a safe and sanitary office and workplace. As an Orthodontic Provider, we already require proper instrument sterilization, necessary to ensure the protection of patients, doctors and staff members from various infectious diseases. Dr. Delgado and his assistants wear protective masks, gloves, and when necessary, eye protection, for the patient’s protection, as well as their own. Each chair station is disinfected and wiped down before and after every patient. All orthodontic instruments are sterilized before use with professional Orthodontic sterilization equipment. In addition to the routine and required cleaning processes, we also have a contracted professional cleaning service clean our entire office, nightly. Our staff volunteered to come in Sunday, March 15, to take extra precautions to disinfect and prepare the office. We have cleaned all surfaces, door knobs, lobby areas, etc. We have also removed our complimentary coffee station and consolidated items in our tooth-brushing area. We assure you, we will continue to take these steps throughout each workday for everyone’s protection. Clorox wipes, tissues, hand-washing stations, and hand sanitizer will be readily available throughout the office.

APPOINTMENTS:  Dr. Delgado and our staff will be available for scheduled and emergency orthodontic appointments. We do understand that many patients and families may choose not to come in during the social distancing period. We ask that you please contact our office to let us know so that we can keep our schedule and patient information current.

** WE ASK THAT IF YOU OR ANYONE IN YOUR IMMEDIATE CONTACT IS ILL OR EXPERIENCING ANY RESPIRATORY SYMPTOMS OR FEVER, THAT YOU STAY HOME AND TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. WE WILL WORK WITH YOU TO RESCHEDULE AND KEEP YOU ON TRACK WITH YOUR ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT. IF WE HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE YOU ARE SICK WHEN YOU ARRIVE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT, WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE SERVICES AT THAT TIME. IT IS CRITICAL FOR US TO KEEP OUR PATIENTS AND STAFF PROTECTED THAT EVERYONE ADHERE TO THIS POLICY. **

BRACES, RETAINER, AND ALIGNER CARE:  Just as the CDC is recommending we take extra precautions by washing our hands, disinfecting our areas, and using sanitizer, we need to take extra precautions with our orthodontic appliances. Be very aware and avoid unnecessary contact with your mouth and appliances. ALWAYS wash hands before and after applying your retainers and aligners, or other orthodontic tools (rubber bands, expanders, etc.). Use retainer cleaner (over the counter PoliDent or Efferdent is acceptable) or dyefree mouthwash to keep your aligners and retainers clean. We understand the COVID – 19 situation is a fluid one, and we will continue to follow guidelines for businesses and patient care. Your health and safety is as important to us as our own. If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 817-282-1821.
