Remodeling a bathroom or refinishing a basement has no impact on neighboring properties because there’s no risk of encroachment. As long as work remains between your four walls, you won’t need to worry about boundary limitations. 

When You Should Consider Having a Land Survey Even if It’s Not Required

You’re not obligated to arrange a survey before erecting a fence, but it can save you quite a few headaches. For instance, if your neighbor disputes the placement of the fence, you’ll have verification that you’re within your property limits. You should also consider having a survey completed before swimming pool or deck installation, even though it’s not required.
