When you have a busy schedule, time is precious. Learning a new hobby, like the guitar, can enhance your livelihood, but it can take some effort to make this goal a reality. Here’s how to work in mastering the guitar into your busy life.

How to Make Guitar Lessons More Effective When You Have Limited Time

1. Make It Part of Your Routine

If you’re serious about mastering the guitar, practice will have to become part of your routine. Each week, sit down and jot down your schedule to see where you can fit in lessons and practice time. At a minimum, try to get in three half-hour practice sessions per week.

2. Set a Goal

Hoping to play covers of your favorite songs will require a different direction than learning to write your own music. If you don’t have an objective, you could begin to lose interest after mastering the basic chords and scales.

3. Create a Dedicated Practice Space

Solitude is hard to come by as a busy adult, and your home is probably filled with a million distractions. During practice, put the phone away, turn off the TV, and hire a sitter for an hour if necessary. Make it a point to get out of your hectic environment and move somewhere that allows you to dedicate your full attention to playing the guitar.
