Early in life, your kids are susceptible to a wide array of dental issues. The only way to ensure strong, healthy teeth is by promoting a consistent oral care routine. It can be difficult to get your children excited about brushing their teeth for the dentist-recommended two minutes. Since most kids love phone-based games and videos, consider using the following apps that make brushing fun.

A Guide to Toothbrushing Apps

1. Brush DJ

Those who are musically inclined will love Brush DJ. This app lets kids choose which 2-minute song from the app’s collection that they want to play. When the music stops, they can spit, rinse, and put their toothbrush away. The app also plays short, animated videos on how to brush and floss that you and your children can watch together. You can also set reminders on the app to notify you every three months to replace your brush, when your next dentist appointment is, and to brush at least twice a day.

2. Disney Magic Timer

dentist Chesterfield, MOThis app includes 23 Disney®, Marvel®, and Star Wars® characters who talk to your kids while they brush their teeth. They can unlock more characters if they scan their Crest® or Oral-B® toothbrush before they start brushing. They can choose whichever character they want and watch as they fully reveal themselves by the end of the two minutes. They can collect a new sticker at the end of every 2-minute brushing session in order to complete their sticker book. They will start with Mickey Mouse, but can work their way up to Nemo, Ariel, Captain America, Tinker Bell, Yoda, and many more! The app keeps a calendar of your children’s achievements and gives badges for breakthroughs, like brushing twice a day, every day for a month.

3. Brush Up

Through this app, your kids meet Budd, the Brush Up robot and “Toothbrush Tutor” who brushes his teeth alongside your kids and shows them where and how to brush. The Magic Mirror places kids on the screen next to Budd and plays a fun theme song as they brush. The app rewards your children with digital prizes, which helps motivate them to keep brushing. After they are done, they can take the Selfie Assesment™. They can replay the video showing them brushing their teeth with Budd and receive prizes and stars for brushing every tooth and surface. You can review Budd’s brushing reports, which include your children’s videos and Budd’s reviews of how thorough their brushing is to monitor your kid’s oral hygiene routine. Your child will receive 25 new prizes each month to keep them interested and you will receive a stream of reports that you can share with their dentist.
