Summer is almost here, which means your vacation is probably planned. When traveling, you want to ensure that you have what you need for a solid skin care routine, especially if you’ll be spending time in the sun or heat.

How Should I Care for My Skin When Traveling?

1. Don’t Forget the Sunscreen

Sunscreen not only keeps your skin wrinkle-free, but it also lowers your risk of developing skin cancer. Accordingly, it is an essential component of your skin care routine. Pick up a bottle with an SPF of at least 30 and the ability to provide broad-spectrum protection (which means it wards off both UVA and UVB rays). If you’re vacationing in a hot location, such as the beach, reapply sunscreen every 30 minutes.

2. Invest in a Good Moisturizer

People with dry skin should use thicker moisturizing ointments, while those with oily skin should use lighter formulas to keep their pores from clogging.

3. Stick to Your Cleansing Routine

It’s recommended that you wash your face twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Deviating from your routine while on vacation can be tempting, but it can also damage your skin and lead to breakouts. Removing your makeup each night is equally important. If you don’t feel like washing your face, bring along facial wipes to easily remove makeup and cleanse your skin before going to bed.
