Pressure washing provides quick and effective cleaning power. This type of cleaning utilizes highly pressurized water to blast away the mess that can come from different jobs. Making sure your pressure washer is maintained properly will extend the life of it substantially. Know what to do, and which common mistakes to avoid, using your pressure washing equipment appropriately.

Do:

Choose your nozzle correctly.

Know which nozzle is right for the machine you’re using. Pressure washers come with nozzle tips suited for the specific size of machine. It is crucial to have the right tip for your machine; this tip allows the accurate amount of pressure to be used with your specific machine. Using the wrong size tip can lead to issues in your pump and motor.

Be sure your pressure washer fits your shop

There are different cases of your machine “fitting your shop”.  Making sure your shop has adequate voltage for the size of machine you have, 110V, 208, 220V, single phase or three phase. Water supply is also important to know if you have the correct amount for the size of machine that you have, if your water supply is not enough, there can be ways to make a reserve tank for your machine to feed out of, however keeping an eye on that reserve tank will be crucial.

Don’t:

Leave your pressure washer in bypass for long period of time

Leaving your machine in bypass can cause significant damage to your pump. When your machine is left in bypass, the heat builds up in the pump and will ruin the packings and the ceramic pistons inside the pump. We at Express Pressure Washers offer features that will shut your machine down after it is left in bypass after 30 seconds, which helps to protect your machine.

Forget to cool down your hot water machine.

Hot water pressure washers can provide 130 degree heat rise, which creates great cleaning power. Once the job is done, however it is vital to cool down your machine. Cooling down your machine ensures that all of the natural minerals from the water are not sticking to the coil. When your machine is not cooled down those minerals will stay in the coil and overtime cause buildup in the coil. This will not allow accurate water through the coil and builds up back pressure. Express Pressure Washers offers a de-liming service in our shop if this happens.
