With an abundance of video games on the market and new electronic devices coming out every other week, it's no surprise that children don’t have the urge to pick up a book anymore. Pop-up books just aren’t as entertaining unless they sing and dance at the same time. If a child isn’t having fun while they are reading, they simply won’t want to do it.

With 15 years of experience teaching children how to read, Reading in Preschool knows how to give your child the confidence to succeed, and they have some helpful tips for parents on how they can make reading fun for their children.

Reading a bedtime story is common for parents and the process of reading out loud is a great benefit for children. Not only will they learn how to read silently on their own, but reading out loud also helps children improve their vocabulary, attention skills and comprehension. Encourage reading out loud throughout the day to help your child learn to love reading.

If you're going on a trip, make sure to pack a few of your kid's favorite books. Have one in your bag so you can pull it out whenever you need to keep your child entertained and engaged.

When you sit down to read with your child, you need to get them excited. Bring the stories to life by adding voices to the characters; choose stories that entertain with funny animals as the characters instead of people. Children think this is hilarious and want to read more.

Children mimic what their parents do. Let your child see you reading your own books so they can see how much you enjoy reading too. Create a great bonding activity that you and your child can share with each other, by curling up and reading together! Start a library with your child and make choosing a new book a part of your basic activities.

Reading in Preschool gives your child the stepping-stone to further their education by using books, flash cards and games to teach them how to read. Along with parents' help at home, Reading in Preschool can help your child fall in love with reading.
