CBD has helped many people reduce anxiety and stress, enjoy more restful sleep, reduce bodily inflammation, and alleviate nausea. CBD oils can be taken as is, though some enjoy using it as a cooking ingredient. Here are a few tips for cooking or baking with it.

How to Cook With CBD Oil

1. Research Oil Types

Learn about the different CBD options: full-spectrum oil, broad-spectrum oil, and isolate powder. Full-spectrum offers the highest doses and a small amount of THC. Broad-spectrum CBD oil is THC-free but contains small amounts of other cannabinoids, such as terpenes. The powder typically contains CBD exclusively.

2. Use Lower Doses To Start

CBD oilsWork with small amounts of oil, such as 10mg or less during initial cooking projects. If you don’t feel anything or otherwise believe you can handle a higher dosage, you can start adding more product to each cooking or baking batch to see what works best for your health needs. Keep in mind that the more oil you add, the more likely you are to notice flavor differences in your recipes.

3. Work With Fat-Based Ingredients

Combine CBD oil with fat-based additives to help it bind efficiently, such as olive oil, butter, lard, other vegetable oils, avocado, nut-based oils, ghee, and shortening. Providing the oil with binding ingredients allows you to enjoy its full effects.

4. Avoid Extreme Heat

Keep the oil away from heat sources over 365 degrees Fahrenheit, or away from heat altogether. Extreme heat causes the product to evaporate while also breaking down its phytonutrients, which reduces its effects. Consider using the oil as a topping or combining it with other fat-based oils to create a salad dressing.

5. Store It Properly for Future Use

Place CBD oils in your refrigerator or other cool, dry storage spaces away from sunlight, other heat sources, and excess moisture. Chilled temperatures preserve the product so that you get the most from it every time.
