If there’s ever a moment to put your best face forward, it’s your wedding day. Easily one of the most memorable occasions of your life, this special affair lets you go all out in every way, including your skin care routine. If you plan to have any facial work done, keep this helpful timeline in mind, so your complexion looks its best on your big day.

Six to Eight Months Before

At least six months in advance of the wedding, visit a medical spa to find out what types of skin care products and treatments will benefit your complexion at this time.

Chemical peels, for example, can help minimize the appearance of hyperpigmentation, but you don’t want to delve into this just days before your nuptials.

If you’re interested in laser hair removal, be mindful of breaks needed between sessions. You should allow for at least a month to six weeks for a total of five or six sessions, depending on the treatment area. Give yourself at least eight months for this.

Four to Seven Months Before

Kailua, HI skin careDepending on your skin, you may need to start laser therapy services at around the seven-month mark. This basic guideline may vary, depending on your practitioner’s advice. These services combat visible signs of aging, like age spots, fine lines, and wrinkles. Used in conjunction with anti-aging skin care products, you may see the results you desire, provided you give yourself enough time to heal.

This is also the right time to experiment with facials to determine how your skin responds.

Three to Four Months Before

Another approach you might consider for facial lines is dermal fillers. These can be highly effective if you want to minimize the appearance of nasolabial folds or forehead creases.

But if you’ve never had fillers before, test them out at least four months beforehand. This gives your body time to absorb the filler substance if you aren’t happy with the results. It also allows you time to recover from any minor irritation or swelling that might occur.

Two to Three Months Before

If you’ve decided on a facial treatment that you love, stick to it in the months leading up the wedding. If your skin isn’t too sensitive, you can schedule another peel to brighten up your complexion.

Continue to use your preferred products at home to maintain your skin; if you have any concerns, ask your aesthetician about changes you need to make.
