The staff at the Dental Clinic of Onalaska are more than just coworkers; they're a community providing excellent dental services to the area. Today, the practice would like to highlight one such member of the close-knit family: dental hygienist Joan O'Brien.  

Joan started at the practice in 1989, working first with Dr. Baumgardner, and now she works with Dr. Olsen. (Fun Fact: Dr. Baumgardner is actually Joan's father.) Her responsibilities include reviewing patient’s medical and dental history, periodontal assessments and charting, home care reinforcement and instruction, developing and maintaining a rapport with patients, and much more. Joan lives with her husband of 26 years and their family pets, two cats named George and Eddie, in Rochester, MN. She has a passion for CrossFit, hiking, gardening, and suspense novels. She also loves to spend time with friends and family, and chances are, most patients have heard about all the exciting stories about her niece and nephews!

Her friendly smile has welcomed generations of families in La Crosse County, Wisconsin to the practice and she has found joy in her career working with individuals like herself who are dedicated to providing excellent care in a friendly environment. She has seen many of the same people over the past two decades—even watching children grow up to become parents themselves.
