When you’ve recently discovered golf and fallen in love with the game, it’s an exciting feeling. Since you need the right gear, you’ll have to consider what clubs you want to buy, including whether to purchase or rent a set. Here’s some information to help you decide.

What’s the Value of Having Your Own Set?

Many people perform better with tools they’ve become accustomed to using. When you own a set of clubs, you get used to their length and weight, making it easier to perfect your swing.

You can still try to get the same brand and style of golf clubs when you rent, but there’s no guarantee they’ll have the precise feel of your previous rentals. It’s also possible that they won’t be in the same condition.

How Often Do You Play?

golfMaybe your love for the sport is reserved for a monthly game or the occasional outing with friends. In this case, you may not be using clubs often enough to warrant keeping them around your house.

Renting a set means you won’t have to worry about it taking up valuable space in your garage or closet. Clubs are also cumbersome. If you’re driving or flying out for a company game, it may be easier to rent once you get there.

Why Experience Matters in Choosing Clubs

When you’re newer to the game, it may be in your best interest to try different sets out to see which you prefer. This also gives you time to see if your passion for golf will stick around.

Once you advance from a newcomer to a regular who plays at least a couple of times a month, it’s wise to purchase your own set using the experience you’ve gained from using various rentals.
