Vehicle wraps can be extremely useful advertising tools, as they essentially turn your car into a mobile billboard. Wrapping your vehicle is also extremely easy, especially with the help of a skilled professional who will handle everything from the initial design to the final application. However, to achieve the best results possible, you must prepare the surface beforehand.

How to Get Your Vehicle Ready for Wrapping

1. Wash It

However, skip the waxes and other finishes, since these can interfere with the film’s adhesion. To make sure the surface is completely dry, wait at least 24 hours before taking the vehicle in for wrapping.

2. Use a Solvent Cleaner

Warm water and soap will get rid of most road dust and grime, but invisible traces of wax, oils, and other contaminants are usually left behind. Since even minute traces can cause your vehicle wrap to bubble and peel, wipe the entire surface down with a solvent cleaner formulated for automotive finishes. Just be sure to test the product on an out-of-the-way area first.

3. Wipe With Alcohol

Some solvents leave behind a thin, invisible residue, so the last step is to wipe your vehicle's surface with a 70% solution of isopropyl alcohol. Since alcohol evaporates quickly and can leave streaks, use one towel to apply the solution and another to wipe it up right away.
