Mr .Corletta Assists Recent College Graduate in Preventing License Suspension in People v. K.D. (Ontario Co, 1/20).

In that case, Mr. Corletta was confronted with a situation where the client was charged with a 6 point Speeding violation, designated a Serious Driving Offense under New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Regulations. The client already had 5 points on their license for a Portable Electronic Device violation, another Serious Driving Offense.

Accumulation of 2 or more Serious Driving Offenses under New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Regulations has serious consequences. Accumulation of 11 or more points in an 18 month period results in suspension or revocation of the license.

The client was a recent college graduate. Transportation was vital in looking for employment. The client resides in a remote rural area, and needs a vehicle to facilitate their job search, which can often be several hundred miles from home.

Mr. Corletta took prompt action in a difficult county by immediately contacting an Assistant District Attorney he was familiar with. He outlined the client's circumstances. He also recommended his client take a Defensive Driver Course.

The client complied. The Assistant District Attorney after considering the client's circumstances as outlined by Mr. Corletta, including the client's prompt enrollment in Defensive Driver Course, reduced the 6 point Speeding violation to a 2 point non-Speeding violation, thereby taking the client out of jeopardy.

Moreover, Mr. Corletta accomplished this in a matter of days, without the necessity of the client traveling to a remote Court to make appearances.

Mr. Corletta again demonstrated his knowledge of law, knowledge of local proactive and procedure, and ability to handle matters quickly and efficiently, all of which provides value to clients.
