Uganda - Rwenzori A Washed

Taste: Savory and heavy with cocoa flavor and an herbal aftertaste.

Roast: Lighter roasts impart a tart, lemony citrus flavor. We like Medium/Dark best – stop just at 2nd crack. This bean is a great base for a blend with a lighter, more acidic partner like Papua New Guinea – Ulya .

About: The Bakonzo farmer group is located in the Bukonzo County of Western Uganda, and represent several sub-counties including Kisinga, Kyondo, Kyarumba, Munkunyu, Mahango, Nyakatonzi, and Isango. Producers here own about 2 acres of land each and farm everything by hand within the family. Members of the Bakonzo community will often collaborate on "share farming," where they assist one another with coffee processing as well as marketing.

After harvesting, the coffees are sorted using float tanks to ensure quality.

This legendary Costa Rican boasts easily identified citrus orange flavors, natural caramelized sugar sweetness, and dark chocolate notes. All of this is combined with brilliant acidity and medium body. Our personal favorite, we can’t get enough of the unusually long finish. We think this bean compares favorably with the Hawaiian and Jamaican classics. Cupping Score: 87

Roast: Medium/Dark (Full City Roast) is our go to roast. We back off on heat and airflow a bit during the development phase to enhance the bean’s natural sweetness.

Taste: This bean produces a big, rich and sweet taste that is complimented by tart acidity. It is great as a single origin as it offers floral notes along with nutty flavors and a full mouthfeel. Its also excellent as a blend with something light and smooth, like a Peru or Mexican bean. This bean from Finca Villaure – owned by Aurelio Villatoro – boasts an 87 cupping score!

Roast: A very hard bean, you can roast this confidently from Medium (City) to Dark (French) and you won’t be disappointed.
