So you want to make your High School Tennis Team. Follow these steps to bring your best game to tryouts.

3 Ways you can prepare for High School Team Tennis:

  1.  Practice, Practice, Practice. Don’t wait until two weeks before try-outs to dust off the racquet.  Make sure you are enrolled in classes, taking private lessons and playing points in the offseason.  North Shore High School Tennis is competitive so bringing your best game will make a difference.
  2. Get Match Play  This is something many incoming players forget but coaches want players who can win the tough points and without repeated match play experience, you will not be mentally or physically prepared.  Play tiebreakers, compete in local tournaments or sign up for a team tennis program at a nearby club for practice.
  3. Take Private Lessons and join a Tennis Group  Private lessons focus on strengthening your weaknesses and improving the skills you have.  While individual lessons are the most efficient way to advance your game,  playing in tennis groups with your coach observing is a game changer!  Your coach will see how you play in a live ball setting and can make adjustments during lessons to raise your level.
