1. Pressure Wash Surfaces

Beyond making surfaces look dingy, ammonium nitrates and ammonium sulfates are chemicals in de-icing products that can cause corrosion. Use a pressure washer to eliminate winter residue.  

2. Caulk Cracks

After you clean the concrete, it will be easier to spot hairline cracks and other imperfections. Water can get into the fissures and cause the cracks to expand in fluctuating temperatures. To prevent this, go to a building supply store and pick up polyurethane caulk. Sealing the cracks with the substance will prevent water infiltration and stop crevices from spreading.  

3. Seal Surfaces

If it’s been a while since the concrete driveway was sealed, invest in the service. Sealing should be performed every four or five years. Adding a protective surface layer will repel moisture, prevent chemical absorption, and block UV rays to avoid rapid deterioration.
