In addition to enjoying their personal time together, Al and Jayne Cloutier also find great pleasure in spending their work day together! The couple recently joined Hawaiiana as a “package deal.” We caught up with Al and Jayne to find out a little more about their careers and their lives together:

Q. How long have you been married?

Jayne: 11 years and 6 months. We’re still on Honeymoon!

Q. How long have you been working together?

Al: I was in Hotel/Restaurant Management for 25 years before I got into property management. Jayne helped me open a restaurant downtown and a second one in Waikiki, so I guess we’ve been working together ever since we got married. We love spending time together so it works out very well!

Q. How long have you each been in this field, and did you both come into property management together?

Al: I’ve been in property management for over 5 years. My immediate interest in the industry motivated me to earn my CMCA® and AMS® designations right away. Jayne followed me into this business a few years later. Having served as a condo board president for over 10 years, she already had a great understanding of the basics. Combining her board experience with her prior business management experience, Jayne was a natural!

Q. What’s your favorite “non-work” pastime?

Jayne: I am an avid surfer. I surf with the “dawn patrol” early in the morning at “Canoes” in Waikiki. Al is an Okinawan Karate enthusiast, and teaches a small Karate class for free on the weekends at Magic Island.

Q. Anything else you think might be fun for people to know?

Al: Besides the fact that we both LOVE Hawaiiana? Hmmm… well, we also do photography and videography on the weekends and on vacations. We’ve produced 6 independent films which are available on Amazon.com, and have won a few film festival awards. We’re currently working on a Martial Arts documentary entitled “Warrior Arts Deadly Dance” which we anticipate releasing in the second half of 2016.

Jayne: My favorite quote can be applied to the way we live our lives as well as our attitude toward this career:

“If you don’t like something, change it.
If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.”
