Field trips are fun ways for kids to explore and learn outside of the classroom. Although your students likely won’t be able to tell while they’re on the bus charter, it takes significant effort to put these outings together. The following tips will help make the planning process a breeze.

How to Plan a School Field Trip

1. Schedule Transportation

Ensuring the children will be safely transported to and from the school is crucial. Bus charter services make it easy to get a large group around without hassle, and you’ll be able to keep everyone together so you can discuss the day’s goals and planned activities on the bus.

To ensure availability, book at least one month in advance.

2. Create & Send Permission Slips

Once you’ve scheduled transportation, put together a permission slip template. This will ensure the parents are aware of the upcoming event and approve.

You can also list what items the students should bring, such as special attire, money, or notebooks. Don’t forget to add the drop-off and pick-up times for the bus charter.

3. Outline the Rules

Even outside of the classroom, your students will need structure and guidelines to follow. The day before the trip, have a discussion with your class about how you expect them to behave. For example, if you are bringing them to a play, remind them to be quiet and respectful during the performance. If there are any safety procedures they need to follow, such as for waste management facilities, highlight these as well.

If you’re planning a field trip for your students, schedule transportation with Northfield Lines in the Twin Cities. They take groups anywhere in the United States and Canada, using only skilled, reliable drivers. Safety is their priority, and they get routine audits from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the U.S Department of Defense. Visit them online to learn more about their services, or call (651) 203-8888 to book your trip today.
