If you’re new to riding a motorcycle, it’s important to be aware of the risks involved and how to address them. Avoid motorcycle dent repair as well as more serious issues by following these three tips to stay safe.

How to Stay Safe on Your Motorcycle

1. Research Local Laws

Always research state laws before getting behind the wheel, or you could get a ticket for a minor infraction. Colorado motorcycle laws state that passengers must wear a DOT-approved helmet if they’re under 18. As the driver, you are not required to wear a helmet, but doing so can save your life. Eyewear is legally required drivers as well as riders. Examples of acceptable eyewear include helmet visors, goggles, and glasses with lenses made from plastic or safety glass.

2. Practice Defensive Driving

3. Inspect Your Vehicle

Before hitting the road, check your vehicle first. Make sure your tires are in good condition and properly filled. Check your fluids, and ensure they aren’t leaking. Make sure your lights and signals are functioning as well. Once you’re on your motorcycle, conduct a quick check of the essential components, including the clutch, throttle, mirrors, brakes, and horn. This will reduce the possibility of any unexpected incidents while riding.
