What’s in a Space Today?

The battle for space continues in every office that has two or more people. Noise and visual distractions destroy productivity.

People blame a multitude of things causing distractions, from loud conversations, people stopping by to chat, the visual distractions of walk-by traffic, lighting, temperature, etc.  The list of things we blame is long and never seems to improve.

Recently the efficiency and design gurus of commercial design

called for the complete removal of walls and office partitions.

“Let’s be collaborators” was the  cry from the millennial workers and the management staff agreed because this would lower their costs.  This worked well for some organizations, but now the pendulum is swinging back in an effort to eliminate visual distractions to improve accuracy. Businesses are struggling to reduce noise levels that make it difficult to concentrate or communicate. One new trend is to bring the old fashion phone booth concept inside the office so people can make a personal call without going outside for privacy. These things are not cheap, but may become the new norm.

What to Do?

The experts at Office Furniture Connection can take your existing space and furniture to new levels of efficiency by planning your workspace for visual privacy. For those that don’t want to go back to the expensive panel system stations, there are other options available that utilize your existing desks and our clients love the look (and management loves the low prices!) By using frosted acrylic panels and designer fabric tiles, we can wrap one, two, three or all four sides of a workspace.  It’s amazing how much this improves people’s ability to concentrate while sitting at their workstation.

We also show examples on our website under new furniture – work stations or you can have us come to your office for a custom office design consultation.
