At sundown on October 31, ghosts and ghouls will take to the streets of Honolulu, Hawaii on a tireless quest for candy! This is an important time to think about safety whether you are bicycling or walking. At Eki Cyclery in Honolulu, the staff is here to make sure you are safe for your trek after dark.
The Eki Cyclery team offers the following safety tips:
Use Proper Bike Accessories: The City & County of Honolulu requires that nighttime bike riders outfit their equipment and themselves with the proper bike accessories. Bikers must have a forward facing headlight plus reflectors on all sides of their bicycle to ensure visibility in addition to a bell or a horn as a sounding device. You can find these bike accessories and many more, including safety vests, flashing red tail lights, reflective stickers, and bicycle wheel lights at Eki Cyclery.
Always Wear a Helmet: Law requires that children age 15 and under wear a helmet while riding. Helmets are not required for adults, but it’s always better to set a good example for kids and to protect yourself in the case of an accident.
Have Fun! It’s Halloween, so have some fun! Taking the appropriate safety precautions before and during your ride will ensure that your night is memorable for all the right reasons.
Since 1911, Eki Cyclery has served as Honolulu’s favorite bicycle store. To learn more about bicycle safety, gear, equipment and more, call (808) 847-2005 or visit stop in for a visit.
