Mr. Corletta Gets Reduced Plea for Trucker.

Mr. Corletta assisted an out of state trucker who got a Speeding Ticket while operating a Commercial Motor Vehicle in a small rural Genesee County town in People v. Anonymous (Genesee Co. 1/20).

Speeding tickets are difficult enough for truckers when they receive them in their private vehicles, but when they receive them while operating their rig, there can be increased penalties under the Vehicle & Traffic Law, as well as employment implications.

Recognizing this, Mr. Corletta immediately contacted the Prosecutor and outlined his client's circumstances. The client worked for a large international trucking company, drove out of state, and resides in Canada, which could have subjected the client's license to additional penalties under Canadian law, as well as loss of employment.

Outlining the above, Mr. Corletta obtained a plea to a mere parking violation for the client, which will not be reported to the client's company, nor will it appear on the client's driving record. The client, who makes their living from driving, was obviously quite relieved and grateful.
