What Are the Symptoms of Diabetic Retinopathy?

During its earliest stages, diabetic retinopathy may not produce outward symptoms. As it progresses, however, individuals typically notice vision changes. Blurred vision, floaters, and dark spots are a few common symptoms to watch for. Additionally, you may notice colors losing their vibrancy, or find that your vision is changing. Typically, these changes occur in both eyes.

While diabetic retinopathy is chronic, meaning there is no cure, interventions such as laser treatments, surgeries, and medications can be used to control it. During its earliest phases, treatment may not be needed.
