Straightening your teeth is about more than just cosmetic dentistry; straight teeth are easier to clean and are more efficient at working together and withstanding bite force. If your teeth are crooked or crowded, your dentist may recommend orthodontic treatment. Braces are an option, but more and more patients are choosing ClearCorrect®, an Invisalign® alternative for invisible bite correction. Here’s what you need to know about the aligners.

About ClearCorrect Aligners

ClearCorrect aligners are small pieces of molded plastic that fit over your upper or lower teeth. They're completely clear, so when they're in place, it's nearly impossible to tell you're wearing them. Each set of aligners is custom-made for you based on a mold or scan of your teeth. Depending on the state of your dental health, you may need anywhere from 12 to 32 sets, and treatment can take one to two years.

How They Work

DentistBefore creating your aligners, your dentist will make a 3D model of your teeth. They'll use this to map out a treatment plan that will gradually shift your teeth over time.

Each aligner in the series is designed with the molded spaces for each tooth in a slightly different position from where they are naturally, so they push your teeth a tiny bit farther toward your goal. You'll wear each set for three weeks, removing them to eat and brush your teeth, then receive a new set from the dentist.

As your teeth shift gradually over time, your gum tissue and jawbone will grow to accommodate the new position, so that when you remove your last set of aligners, your teeth will stay straight naturally.
