Supplying your company’s fleet with vehicle wraps will advertise your business in a sophisticated way. However, wraps do require maintenance and care. To make sure you get the best use out of them for as long as possible, here’s what you need to know.

Do:

Wash them frequently.

At the end of every work day, spray off any debris or grime that you see with plain water. Next, gently wash them by hand using water mixed with soap or cleaning solution. Make sure that you wipe at an angle that smooths the edges of the wraps against the vehicle to avoid peeling them off. Rinse them again afterward. It should only take about five minutes, and you can let them air dry.

Test cleaning supplies.

Before washing them, test the soap or cleaning solution on a tiny piece of one of the vehicle wraps. Although there are soaps and solutions that are made for car wraps, they sometimes smudge or bleach the paint. By checking yours, you can avoid damaging your wraps. Isopropyl alcohol or something citrus-based is usually best.

Wax or polish them.

To protect your vehicle wraps from dirt or the elements, apply a layer of wax polish. Teflon-based or silicone waxes are fine, but avoid carnauba-based waxes, as they’re too rough on the material. The frequency with which you should polish or wax the wrap will depend on what kind you use, so check the instructions.

Don’t:

Leave them out in the sun.

Let corrosive substances sit on them.

Fuel, bird droppings, tree sap, and road salt can corrode vinyl. Clean them off right away with hot water and citrus cleaner if they get on your vehicle wraps. If they create holes in the vinyl before you can remove them, get the issues fixed by a commercial screen printing service right away.

Use the wrong tools.

Mechanical brushes and pressure washers are too abrasive on car wraps. They may chip, smear, or become dull if you use them. When you clean the wraps, use a microfiber cloth and gentle sprayers.
