1. Vases

Instead of glass and ceramic vases, create one with ready-mix concrete to let the colorful petals of your plants pop against the light grey material. First, add water to the ready-mix concrete to create a thick paste and use scissors or a handsaw to cut out the bottom of a plastic soda bottle. Next, pour the mixture in the bottle from the bottom. Let the material cure for a day before carefully cutting away the plastic. The concrete will be firm but pliable, so you can drill a hole in the narrow end for an opening.

2. Wall Hooks

To hold jackets, hats, and other lightweight items, place homemade wall hooks near your doors. Trace any shape you want in a thick cardboard sheet, and then fold the sides to create a mold, using duct tape to hold the pieces in place. Next, pour a solution of ready-mix concrete and water with the consistency of pudding into the mold, and put a large nail into the wet mixture. After it dries, remove the cardboard and use a polishing tool to smooth the rough edges. Finally, hammer the hooks into the wall.

3. Stools

With concrete, you can build stools to display the new vases or add more seating to your kitchen. Cut the top section off of a plastic bucket, and pour a combination of ready-mix concrete and water into the bottom. Cut wooden stool legs and place them directly in the wet concrete. When it's dry, use a saw to cut away the plastic bucket.
