From losing weight to quitting smoking, you might have numerous resolutions at the start of a new year. Without a plan in place, it’s easy to fall victim to stress and stumble on the path to accomplishing your goals. To stick to your resolutions for 2020 and relieve stress in the process, follow the three strategies below.

3 Tips to Keep Your New Year's Resolutions

1. Make a Tangible Timeline

Breaking each resolution into steps will make it easier to accomplish your goal. To work toward each one while relieving stress, write your daily or weekly goals on a calendar. For example, if you want to shed pounds, include your target weight for each week. Make sure the goal is realistic, as you could get frustrated and give up easily if you fall short of an impractical mark. To stay encouraged, write down your main objective and recite it to yourself each day.

2. Tell Others About Your Goals

They will also ask for updates in your progress, which can motivate you to keep going. You can also encourage others to make the same resolutions, such as eating healthier and exercising more, so you can work together to remain focused.

3. Celebrate Milestones

Once you reach a milestone, even a small one, acknowledge the accomplishment. This can often serve as a time to reflect and adjust the plan to reach the next milestone faster. To celebrate, treat yourself with a small gift, such as a cheat day if you’re on a diet.
