When you order pizza and don’t eat it all in one sitting, the leftovers make delicious snacks. While some people enjoy eating cold pizza, you can also reheat it for a hot meal. Unfortunately, just popping a slice in the microwave usually results in less-than-perfect slices. Next time, try one of these methods instead.

How to Reheat Pizza Correctly

1. Oven

pizzaThe best way to warm your leftover pizza is by using the oven. This way, you retain most of the gooey texture and keep the crust crispy.

Heat the oven to 350 degrees, and warm the leftovers on a sheet pan for about 10 minutes. For an extra-crispy crust, keep the pan in the oven as it preheats before using it.

2. Skillet

If you don't want to wait for your oven to preheat, use a skillet on the stove top.

Warm the pan to medium heat, then add a pizza slice. Avoid crowding the pan to ensure it cooks evenly. Add a few drops of water to the side of the pan, then cover it. The water will help maintain the moisture of the dough so you don't end up with overly hard or brittle crust. Let the food reheat until the cheese melts.

3. Microwave

Microwaving isn’t ideal, but it’s the quickest and easiest option.

To avoid mushy toppings and a hard crust, place the slice over a paper towel on a microwave-safe plate. Put the dish in the microwave with a small cup of water to help preserve moisture. Cook for 45 seconds at 50% power. You won't get a crispy crust using this method, but the cheese will be gooey and the food warmed through.
