No matter what kind of vehicle you have, it's sure to need repairs at some point during the time you own it. Even luxury cars, such as Porsches®, require regular maintenance and occasional repairs. Learn some of the most common Porsche repair issues, so you know what to look out for during routine maintenance.

4 Common Porsche Repairs

1. Engine Oil Level

Porsches have a higher engine oil capacity than many other vehicles. This means that it's essential to regularly check the oil levels in your engine and change it out every four to six months. However, be cautious not to overfill the oil, or it could cause your engine to smoke.

2. Change Over Valves (COVs)

These valves help the heater shutoff valve, exhaust flaps, and other parts of the engine run smoothly. A common need for Porsche repairs comes from faulty COVs, which can lead to overall engine failure if left unaddressed. Have your vehicle maintained regularly to avoid this issue.

3. Cooling System

A common Porsche repair is resealing the coolant distribution pipe when there is a leak that could cause your engine to overheat. Keep in mind that you might not necessarily see coolant puddled underneath your car, so you’ll need to have your mechanic check this system during each routine maintenance inspection.

4. Steering & Suspension

The engine in your Porsche can put extra wear and tear on the CV (constant velocity) joints in the suspension of the vehicle. Check the grease boots for cracks or tears. Another common Porsche repair is a failed ABS electronic module, which is indicated by the ABS light illuminating. The light may be accompanied by other signs, such as needing to press harder on the pedal to get your brakes to engage or even locked or unresponsive brakes.
