Though incidence rates have decreased, breast cancer is still a prevalent condition among women, which is why you should take preventative steps. Work with your women’s health care provider and follow these tips to reduce your risk.

A Women’s Health Care Guide for Breast Health

1. Eat Vegetables

A balanced diet will promote your overall health. Getting at least five servings of fruits and vegetables each day has been linked to a reduced likelihood of developing some breast cancers. Fruits and vegetables provide antioxidants, which may reduce your cancer risk.

2. Exerciselincoln mammogram

Women who exercise regularly have a 10–20% reduced risk of breast cancer compared to women who are not active. Fat cells produce estrogen, high levels of which are linked to cancer. Get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week to maintain a healthy weight.

3. Schedule a Mammogram

As with any cancer, early detection is essential for effective treatment and a higher likelihood of complete remission.

Women over the age of 45 should have an annual mammogram done to detect any breast abnormalities. You may want to start earlier if breast cancer runs in your family. Women in their 20s and 30s should have a breast exam done every year.

At home, perform a self-exam every month to get to know what is normal for your breasts and increase the chance of noticing any warning signs.
