Social media is a worthwhile investment of time and money for every real estate agent. This free service is an easy way to stay in touch with your clients and generate new leads. Make the most of your time on social networks with the simple, yet effective, strategies below.

A Real Estate Agent’s Guide to Social Media

1. Connect With Clients on Facebook

Just because you closed the deal with a client doesn’t mean you should end your working relationship with them. Former clients may need your help again when it comes time to sell, or they may think of you when a friend needs an agent.

Have a presence on Facebook in which you interact with them, and don’t make everything about work. Your Facebook posts should be 80% personal and customer-centric, with the other 20% about the business.

2. Promote With Photos & Videos

real estate agentSocial media is a visual network. You’ll get significantly higher engagement if you post photos and videos rather than just text. When you sign a new listing, share the professional photos in a post, or give your followers a virtual tour via video. But don’t focus only on the houses—remember to promote the neighborhood as well. Pictures of the best restaurants and shops in town can get buyers interested.

When you close a sale, congratulate your clients by taking a photo of them in front of their house and sharing it. You’ll reach a much larger group of people by tagging your clients in these posts or having them share it on their own profiles.

3. Educate Your Followers

People are spending more time online because they not only want to connect, but they also want to learn. Be the number one resource for your followers, teaching them about the buying and selling process or fun facts about the towns you work with. Readers are more likely to share content they deem useful, so your viewership can potentially grow with each share, retweet, and like.
