Slow down.

When approaching an intersection, start slowing down a few extra feet before you actually have to come to a stop to prevent sliding.

Top off your fuel tank. 

It’s never smart to drive when the needle is hovering above empty, but it’s especially risky in the winter. If you get stranded and need a towing service, you may need to run your car's motor to stay warm and comfortable while you wait. Keep your tank at least half full at all times.

Make sudden movements.

Let your wiper fluid get too low. 

Visibility is of utmost importance during adverse weather conditions. If you run out of wiper fluid, the wipers won’t be able to keep your windshield clean effectively. Use high-potency formulas created for winter conditions. If you haven’t already topped off this season, do so now and check the level once a month or so. Keep an extra bottle in the trunk in the event that you need a refill while out on the road.
