“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.  Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.”  --Helen Keller

When our organization partners with passionate individuals like yourself, we feel more empowered than ever to achieve our animal advocacy goals.  Our organization began as FeralCare in 2006 as a response to the rapid growth of local homeless and feral cat populations.  In 2012, we had the honor to open the doors of “Nutmeg Spay/Neuter Clinic” to cater to the clear demand for low-cost spay/neuter programs for both companion and shelter animals.  We were honestly unprepared for the outpour of community support that resulted from the opening of our clinic.  From donations of goods and services, youth volunteers, monetary donations, pet adoptions – the aid, approval and endorsement of our cause has been nothing short of inspiring.

Each day we find our surgery schedule full of supporters that want to provide the best care for their pet at an affordable cost.  Local animal control, rescues, and shelters also fill the schedule, wanting to lower their bottom line and increase their impact.  With the backing of our community and the Humane Society of the United States, in 2017, we had the privilege of offering the Pets for Life program to the Bridgeport zip code of 06608.  Pets for Life has become an integral element of our objective to end pet overpopulation.  By bringing free spay/neuter and wellness services to those living in the most underserved local neighborhoods, we are also able to instill equity, trust, and dignity to caring pet owners, while simultaneously advocating for animals living in poverty.

There is no power greater for change than a community discovering what it cares about, and you have made your message clear:  You will never stop working towards ending the needless practice of euthanasia at shelters due to overpopulation.  You will never turn a blind eye to animal suffering.  You want to see your contributions and impact maximized by using funds to keep companion pets in their homes rather than using those funds to relinquish, house, and rehome.

Sponsor-A-Cat, Foster, Adopt:

Donors can support our nonprofit in a truly unique way!

Nutmeg Spay/Neuter Clinic Sponsor-A-Cat program allows donors to support our clinic is a very unique, impactful way. Your monthly (or annual) tax-deductible donation helps provide food, enrichment, and medical attention to cats waiting to be adopted. When you Sponsor-A-Cat, you will receive a picture and description of a cat that is presently in our care. You will also receive a quarterly letter and updated photo, giving you an update on your cat. Want to send your cat a special toy from chewy.com? Awesome! – we'll send you a video of her enjoying it! We also welcome and encourage sponsors to come for a visit with their cat. Your contribution will help us to fulfill a promise we made to our cats long ago – to provide them with optimal health care and unconditional love, just as any "forever home" would!

Sponsor-A-Cat is an excellent program for anyone who loves cats and cannot have any of their own, or makes a beautiful gift for an animal-lover you genuinely care about! When you sponsor a cat through Nutmeg Spay/Neuter Clinic as a gift, we will notify the recipient of your kindness and send them a picture of their new feline friend!
