A reverse osmosis system can make a big difference for your facility, removing large particles and unwanted molecules and ions from your water supply. While these systems provide effective water treatment, they may still experience maintenance problems from time to time. The following are some of the most common issues you might encounter with your system.

A Guide to Reverse Osmosis System Concerns

1. No Water or Low Flow

Pre-filter or post-filter clogs will cause faucets to experience slow water flow. This can eventually cut off the flow of water entirely. However, issues with low water pressure or inadequate air pressure in the reverse osmosis tank can also inhibit water flow. In such circumstances, draining the tank, replacing the membrane, or adjusting the pressure will solve the issue.

2. Continually Running System

A system that runs continuously can result in excess energy consumption and lead to additional wear and tear of your equipment. If the unit’s ASO valve doesn’t shut off, water will run constantly. This is most often caused by a failed flow restrictor or a membrane issue that keeps the tank from filling properly.

The check valve could also cause the tank to lose pressure. Fixing any of these issues should restore normal pressure so the ASO valve shuts off properly.

3. Leaks

Faucet leaks may also occur, and a professional can tighten the fittings or replace the faucet completely. Faucet leaks are also more likely to occur if the output tube has dips and loops.
