Kitty Hawk - The Wright Brothers

The International Civil Rights Center & Museum

This museum gives you a glimpse of the American Civil Rights movement. It is located in Greensboro, which saw the Greensboro Sit-Ins in 1960. The museum even has the original booth where the “Greensboro Four” protested. Take a tour here to learn how these sit-ins changed the Civil Rights Movement and America forever.

Roanoke - The Lost Colony

Tourists on this island can experience what life was like as an English colonist, while also learning about the long history of the Native American tribes who inhabited the area before.

USS North Carolina - WWII Ship

Docked near downtown Wilmington, the USS North Carolina was a top-of-the-line WWII battleship that played a major role in the Pacific Theatre. Decommissioned in 1947, some North Carolina residents successfully petitioned for it to be a memorial. Tourists today can check out all nine levels and feel what it was like to fight in WWII. 

Tryon Palace Historic Sites and Gardens - Preserving History

Constructed for Governor Tryon in the late 1700s, the Tryon Palace has been preserved so tourists can experience life in the British colonies. Covering over 16 acres, the gardens provide tourists with a hands-on experience and many costumed interpreters for history buffs to enjoy.
