How to Use a Plunger Correctly

Make sure the plunger’s cup is fully submerged, then press downward over the drain to tighten the seal. Plunge quickly and firmly, never lifting the plunger off the drain. After 20 seconds, release pressure.

If you’re plunging the toilet, first turn off the valve on the side of the fixture to prevent any potential overflow. Remove excess water, if necessary, or add water as needed if you need to cover the cup entirely. Using quick movements, plunge firmly for at least 20 seconds while maintaining a tight seal.
