“Why should I pre-owned?”

Brand loyalty is one of the reasons we all use Apple® products.  We all love our iPhones®, MacBooks®, iPads® etc.  Apple® is one of the greatest tech companies to ever exist, and they are incredibly invested in research, development, and optimization.

You’ve seen it: lines out the door at the Apple® store for the newest Apple® device.  Apple® product consumers are known to buy their devices new and current.  But, the pre-owned market is underutilized and under-appreciated.  Let’s face it, buying something new is exciting— with that fresh packaging, knowing this new object exists just for you— it’s a novel experience.  But, it’s just that, a novelty.  People don’t realize that they may be better off buying pre-owned.  Below are several reasons why buying pre-owned is probably the best option for everybody:

  1. Buying pre-owned saves money.  Obviously.
  2. Buying pre-owned is a sustainable practice— you reduce your negative environmental impact when you buy pre-owned.  It is a responsible practice to use something to the end of its useful life, not just until the newest phone comes out.
  3. Buying pre-owned supports small businesses and stimulates local economies.  Some third-party repair shops and second-hand stores depend on customers who are dedicated to their investments.
  4. The longer you use the phone, the more utility you derive over it’s useful life.  It optimizes your investment— phones are considered durable goods due to their long service life (over 3 years).
  5. Typically, older models afford more freedom to the user.  This sounds like it may not be true, but here is an example to illustrate what I mean: After 2013, Apple began soldering the RAM to the motherboard of the MacBook Pros® with Retina Display.  Before 2013, one could upgrade the RAM on their computer.  After 2013 they could not.  So, say you’re a music producer or an animator— buying a 2012 MacBook Pro® means you can upgrade your Hard Drive, RAM, Graphics Cards, etc to build a more powerful computer which still runs the current  OS resulting in better quality work, less frustration, more storage, and many more perks.

While exciting and novel, constantly buying newer models doesn’t really make sense anymore.  Especially with accredited third-party vendors and repair shops like Experimax who are knowledgable, accountable to customers, are there to help, and who know the true value of pre-owned Apple® products.

In fact, Experimax in San Jose offers a broad range of products, services,  and accessories to help you get the most out of your investments.

They even have a 90-day repair and sale warranty, offer no-credit financing, are flexible with their customers, and make deals with SMB businesses to stimulate local economies.

Buying pre-owned just makes sense.
