As the end of the year approaches, you probably have a lot of things on your mind. Rachel E. Gold, D.M.D., of Total Health Dentistry, in Cold Spring, KY, would like to suggest that you to add one more thing to your list: an appointment with your dentist.

Not only do appointments book up very quickly at the end of the year, but most dental insurance plans run on a calendar year, rather than a fiscal year. This means that by booking your appointment before the end of December, you could save hundreds of dollars on dental care.

How? Most insurance companies require that you pay a deductible—a certain amount of money out of your own pocket—before they’ll step in and start covering your dental procedures for you. If you visited the dentist earlier in the year, you’ve likely already made some progress towards paying this amount. When the year ends, however, the amount you already paid doesn’t roll over. Whether or not you’ve hit your deductible or used your coverage by the end of the year, the amount that you have to pay will start over at the beginning of the next year. After you hit your deductible, you will have a yearly maximum—the total amount that the insurance company is willing to pay out each year. You’ll also want to make sure you take advantage of this amount in order to cover dental work you really need.

Use those benefits now before you lose them at the end of the year by scheduling any necessary dental exams now. Dr. Gold and her team provide a wide range of superior-quality dental products and services, including general preventative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, tooth fillings, and more. Experience the difference that the Total Health Dentistry approach can make.
