EMT Training Modules

1. Prep

Get introduced to emergency care, including the stress involved and the scope of practice, such as your ethical responsibilities and how to manage organ donors and crime scenes. Prep also includes human anatomy lessons, how to assess a patient’s vital signs, and what lifting and moving patients without further injury requires.

2. Airway

Learn about the human airway and how it functions, as well as how to keep it open and resuscitate a nonbreathing patient. You’ll also learn how to use oxygen equipment and related devices, such as suction and resuscitation equipment.

3. Patient Assessment

Discover how to evaluate a trauma or medical scene for hazards, patient responsiveness, and the degree of injuries. Patient assessment training also includes learning how to document emergency scenes and take information from those involved, such as their medical histories.

4. Medical/Behavioral/Trauma Emergencies & Obstetrics/Gynecology

Train in a wide variety of medical, trauma, and behavioral emergencies, including head and neck injuries, shock, bleeding, musculoskeletal injuries, allergic reactions, cardiovascular issues, altered mental states, heat and cold exposure, and poisoning and overdoses. Obstetrics and gynecological EMT training includes learning about physical changes from pregnancy and common reproductive emergencies.

5. Trauma

EMT trainingExplore methods of care for patients with severe injuries, including bleeding and shock, soft tissue burns, musculoskeletal breaks and tears, head and spine trauma, and more. You’ll learn to evaluate symptoms and decide which equipment to use to treat the wounds.

6. Infants & Children

Learn the anatomical differences between babies and adults, as well as common medical and trauma emergencies affecting young patients. Training also includes how to work with injured or ill babies and children.

7. Operations

Receive training in ambulance operations and uses, responding to emergency calls, patient rescues, hospital transfers, and what to do when there are multiple injured or ill patients or hazardous materials present. Rescue EMT training includes extracting patients safely from vehicles and buildings.
